There are 60 Days Left to Win the Year. Time for One More Big Goal.

There’s time for 1 sprint on 1 priority.

I woke up this morning with a realization that hit me like a cold shower: we have just 60 days left in the year.

Sixty days.

This is my last chance to turn 2024 into something extraordinary.

And yours too.

You know that goal you've been pushing to the back of your mind? The one that makes your heart race a little faster when you think about it? It's time to drag it into the light.

I've spent years chasing goals, both hitting and missing them, and I've learned something crucial: the difference between a good year and a great year often comes down to one defining achievement. One bold move. One commitment that changes everything.

Right now, we're standing in that sweet spot of urgency and possibility.

Sixty days is an interesting number – it's long enough to accomplish something significant but short enough to sustain an all-out sprint.

It's the perfect window for one last push toward something meaningful.

Think about it.

What's the one thing you could achieve in the next two months that would make you look back at 2024 with pride?

Perhaps it's finally launching that side business you've been planning in your head.

Perhaps it's completing that piece of writing that's been sitting in your drafts folder. Or it could be transforming your physical health with a 60-day commitment to radical change.

But here's the catch – you can only pick one.

I've learned this lesson the hard way: trying to chase multiple "big" goals in a short timeframe is a recipe for achieving none of them.

Actually, chasing multiple big goals over any timeframe is usually counterproductive.

So, this final 60 days of the year isn't about creating a long list of wishes.

This is about identifying the one goal that moves the needle most dramatically.

We don’t have time here for overthinking.

We don't have time for perfect plans or endless preparation.

What we do have is enough time to make one significant change.

If we sprint.

Exactly how to make these next 60 days count.

Step 1: Choose Your One Goal (Today)

The first step is the hardest – but it’s the most important.

You need to pick your goal today. Not tomorrow, not next week. Today.

This is how I would identify the goal with the highest impact:

  1. Write down three potential goals that excite you

  2. For each goal, ask yourself:

    • Will completing this change something important in my life?

    • Is this achievable in 60 days with focused effort?

    • If I achieve this, will it make other goals easier?

    • Will I still care about this achievement in one year?

The goal that gets the most positive answers is your target.

Trust your gut here – if one goal makes you slightly uncomfortable but excited, that's often the right choice.

Step 2: Break It Down (Next 24 Hours)

Once you've chosen your goal, you need to break it down immediately.

I mean within the next 24 hours.

Here's why: big goals are overwhelming.

If you pause for even a few days, you will lose that valuable initial momentum.

Step 3: Create Weekly Milestones

There are only about 8 weeks left of the year. Each one is important.

Let's say your goal is to launch a side business. Break it down into weekly milestones:

  • Week 1-2: Market research and business plan

  • Week 3-4: Product/service development

  • Week 5-6: Website and marketing materials

  • Week 7-8: Launch preparation and execution

Then break each week into daily tasks. Plan the daily tasks for the next two weeks. Before those weeks are done, plan the next two.

The key is to make each day's task small enough to be doable but significant enough to matter.

Step 4: Create Your Environment for Success

This is where many people fail and you should not be one of them.

They try to achieve new goals in an unchanged environment.

Your environment needs to be restructured to support your 60-day sprint.

Here's what this looks like in practice:

  • Clear your calendar of non-essential commitments

  • Set up a dedicated workspace for your goal

  • Remove typical distractions (I personally delete social media apps during sprints)

  • Tell key people in your life about your goal and ask for their support

  • Prepare your tools and resources in advance

Don’t let this setup be an excuse to procrastinate. Do the minimum necessary to get the maximum result.

Step 5: The Daily Non-Negotiables

During these 60 days, establish three non-negotiable daily practices:

  1. Power Hour: Dedicate at least one day to distraction-free deep work. This is best done in the morning. However if your schedule demands something different, do that. Morning is best because your mind and body are fresh and ready for focus. Wake up one hour earlier than usual. Use this time exclusively for your goal before the day's demands hit.

  2. Progress Tracking: Spend 5 minutes each evening recording what you accomplished and planning the next day. I use a simple notebook with two columns: "Done Today" and "Do Tomorrow." The power in this is immense. You will never wake up and waste time wondering what to complete today.

  3. Visualization: Take 10 minutes before bed to visualize your goal as already accomplished. This isn't just feel-good advice – it's about programming your brain to recognize opportunities and solutions.

Step 6: The Weekly Reset

Every Sunday, take 30 minutes for a weekly reset:

  • Review your progress

  • Adjust your next week's plans based on what you've learned

  • Celebrate small wins

  • Identify and solve any roadblocks

Remember that we only have 8 weeks in this sprint. Each week is important.

Dealing with Setbacks

Let's be real – setbacks will happen. When they do, use the 24-hour rule:

You get 24 hours to feel frustrated, then you must pivot and keep moving.

A setback isn't failure unless you let it stop you.

Avoid the “Almost There” Trap

In the last two weeks of your 60-day sprint, you'll likely face what I call the "almost there" trap. This is when many people ease up, thinking they're close enough to coast.

Don't fall for it.

The final two weeks should be your most intense.

Celebrate Small Wins

Celebrate each milestone you reach, no matter how small. Acknowledging your progress keeps motivation high and reinforces positive habits.

Visualize and Track Progress Daily

Earlier, we described the daily review. Track your progress daily to stay motivated and identify any adjustments you need to make.

Visual aids, like a progress chart or checklist, can boost motivation and give you a tangible sense of achievement.

Making It Count

Sixty days from now, you'll be staring at the end of the year. That moment will come whether you take action or not.

The question is: what story will you tell about these two months?

I've seen people completely transform their lives in 60 days. I've watched entrepreneurs go from idea to launch, writers complete manuscripts, and individuals transform their health.

The common thread?

They all started today, not tomorrow.

This is your wake-up call. The next 60 days are a gift – a final opportunity to make this year memorable. Choose your goal. Start today. And make these last 60 days the ones that define your year.

Remember, you don't need to be great to start, but you need to start to be great.

Your 60-day countdown begins now.
